Murcha

Murcha (Swooning Breath) is a pranayama of controlled breath retention after deep inhalation to increase prana, reduce stress, and heighten awareness.

  1. Starting Position

Sit in a comfortable seated position with your spine straight. Close your eyes and focus on your breath.

  2. Deep Inhalation

Inhale deeply through both nostrils, filling your lungs completely with air.

  3. Breath Retention

Hold the breath in for as long as comfortably possible, keeping your body still and relaxed. Focus on the sensation of energy building in the body.

  4. Exhale

Slowly exhale through the nose when you feel the need to release the breath. After exhaling, rest for a few moments before repeating.
